What is Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir?

Chandrodaya Mandir is under construction in Vrindavan, Mathura, India. Srila Prabhupada’s followers have decided to build the temple and make it the biggest temple in the world. The temple will be 700 feet high and have approximately 750 floors. It will cover a total area of 50,000 square metres. The parking and helipad area will cover 4.9 hectares of land.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Krisha and his abode. However, ISKCON devotees in Bangalore were the first ones to take the initiative to build the temple. The motto of creating the temple is for the devotees and animals, especially delivering the message from Bhagwat Gita. The construction started in 2015 and is about to be completed by 2027.  After the inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, the building of this temple will be one of the biggest events for Hindus.

History

In 1972, Shri Srila Prabhupada, the founder of ISKON temples worldwide, discussed Yukta Vairagya. “Yukta Vairagya” means connecting with Lord Krishna in every action. He lectured before the Bhajan Kutir of Sri Rupa Goswami in Vrindavan. In his lecture, he said, “Instead of building big buildings for us. We should make them for Lord Krishna and his loved ones.

Moreover, according to Acharya Srila Prabhupada, we should focus on spirituality to purify material activities. With this idea, in 2015, the devotees of ISKCON Bangalore decided to build the World’s largest temple for Lord Krishna and named it Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir. Furthermore, the temple’s construction is ongoing, and still a famous temple in Vrindavan.
