After the police, the CBI Involvement in the Kolkata Case can be seen from Thursday. 31-year-old Dr Maumita Debnath got raped and killed at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, on August 9, 2024.

Who is Moumita Debnath? What is the Kolkata Rape Case?
Dr Maumita Debnath is a 31-year-old, second-year postgraduate trainee (PGT) doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. On 9th August 2024, she got raped and murdered in the seminar hall of the hospital at 3 am. The body of the doctor was found the next morning around 6 am.
Furthermore, on 9th August, around 2 a.m., after completing 36 hours of duty, she went to the seminar hall for lunch with her juniors. The juniors went for their round after lunch while she was still resting. The next morning, her body was found in a devastated condition in the seminar hall.
Autopsy Reports of Moumita Debnath
Her autopsy reports say that she was bleeding from her eyes, nose, mouth, and vagina. According to the reports, there is the possibility of multiple penetrations as 150 grams of semen were collected from the body. However, a male ejaculates 15 gm of semen at one time. Her pelvic bones were broken and turned at 180 degrees.
Moreover, the report says her injuries were antemortem, which means they were caused before death. There are many possibilities that she got raped even after death. She had many bite marks and scratches on her cheeks, lower jaw, belly, and thighs.
CBI Involvement in the Kolkata Case After Calcutta High Court Order
CBI Involvement in the Kolkata Case played a major role. At first, the Kolkata Police was handling the case, but due to rape case protests, the High Court transferred it to CBI on 13 August. However, the accused, Sanjoy Roy, was arrested. But the report is saying that it is a gang-rape.
Before the CBI reached the crime scene, renovation was started in the nearby area. On the same night, a group of goons broke into the building and caused damage. They tried their best to destroy all the evidence related to the case. A similar incident occurred when the doctors were protesting in Kolkata.
According to CBI, while interviewing her parents, they took the names of several interns and trainees from the hospital as suspects. The autopsy reports say the same, that it was a gang rape. Interviews say that she had dinner with her juniors that night.
Furthermore, the victim knew some dark secrets in the hospital. They attacked her new car months before. Still, she stuck to the reality and tried to expose it. After sleeping that night, the interns first attacked her and broke her pelvic and collar bone. Even the female intern held the hands, and then they called Sanjay Roy to rape her. It is important to note that this statement is not official yet but is present on social media.
However, the Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is still working to collect more evidence. Only one accused is in custody for now. However, the case involves more accusations, and they are working on it.
Who is Sanjay Roy?
Snajoy Roy is the main accused in the case. He is a civic police volunteer with Kolkata Police. Police say he is the culprit, and he raped and murdered the doctor. They have found disturbing content on his mobile phone, such as porn and incestuous rape.
After investigation, the accused says he accepted that he raped and brutally killed her. Further, he added that after doing this heinous crime, he went to his home, washed his clothes, and slept like nothing happened. However, police arrested him on August 11, 2024.
