After the Indian cricket team’s victory in the T20I World Cup, the name was chanted globally. But from 05 July, the battle of South Africa Women vs India Women started. Cricket enthusiasts have lined up the winning Indian Team. Fans are expecting India to win the Women’s International.

1st Inning: 

The T20I Women’s International Match 1 between South Africa and India was held in MA Chidambaram Stadium on 5 July 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Harmanpreet Kaur and Laura Wolvaardt are the team captains. India won the toss and chose to bowl, but South Africa won the match by 12 runs. 

The match started at 7:00 p.m., and Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits were ready on the field with their bats. It was Renuka’s over, and they played well, scoring only five runs in one over. Laura scored five runs, and the Brits were not able to score. In the second over, Pooja Vastrakar bowled, and the over ended with six runs, scored by Laura. 

Moreover, Renuka Thakur Singh gave 16 runs from the third over, Laura scored all the runs, and Brits could not score any. Pooja Vastrakar bowled well in the fourth over and got two runs by one from Britz. In Radha Yadav’s over, she bowled to Laura, and the bowl came wide. The fifth over gave a total of eight runs. Till now, the South African team strategically maintained their game. 

From the sixth and seventh overs total, 18 runs were made by Britz and Wolvaardt. Radha Yadav returned to attack and ended up taking the wicket of Wolvaardt. It was the first wicket of the series. In the next seven overs, South African teams have collected a total of 75 runs. That was when the table turned, and the fate was clear. 

The roaring Raha took Marizanne Kapp’s second wicket in the sixteenth over. But Britz hit back-to-back two sixes. Chloe Tryon replaced Kapp. In the 19th over, Pooja Vastrakar took two wickets from Tryon and Britz. The South African team made a total of 189 runs in 20 overs. 

2nd Inning:  

After the inning break, the South African team were present on the field. Shafali Verma and Mandhana came on the field with their bats. Ayabonga Khaka bowled the first over and ended up with eight runs. In five overs, the Indian team scored 54 runs. But in the fifth over, Ayabonga Khaka bowled and took the wicket of Shafali Verma. 

In the final bowl of the tenth over, Tryon took Mandhana’s wicket. Similarly, Nadine de Klerk took the wicket of Smriti Mandhana. It was a heartbreaking moment for Indian fans, and the game favoured South Africa. In the eleventh over, nine runs have come. Nadine de Klerk bowled well in the 12th over, and the Indian team collected only four runs. 

Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur collected 23 runs in the next three overs. India ends up with a total of 177 runs with four wickets. South Africa ends up winning the match on day 1. 

Player of the match: Tazmin Brits becomes the Player of the match with 81 (56). 

South Africa Women vs India Women Highlights Day 2:

Day 2 of South African Women vs India Women started 15 minutes late due to drizzling. No team won the match, and the 2nd inning was not started. The African team played well for the first three overs, collecting 43 runs. Moreover, in the fourth over, Radha Yadav took the wicket of Laura Wolvaardt. 

Marizanne Kapp and Tazmin Brits were on strike, and the Indians played well. In eighth over, Deepti Sharma has taken the wicket of Marizanne Kapp. Then, in the 13th over, Tazmin Brits gave her wicket to Deepti Sharma. South Africa ends up scoring 177-3. Due to rain, the match was not able to start further. 

Who Will Win the Upcoming Matches?

After facing a loss on the first day of the match against South Africa, India must be looking to grab the opportunity and win the 2nd match. The main reason behind India’s loss was the poor catching of Harmanpreet Kaur. But she will return and play well in the upcoming matches.  

India has two wins in the day 2 match at any cost to win the three-day series. But on the second day, due to heavy rain the match was not possible to play. South African’s men’s team has lost the finals against India. So, there is revenge in the hearts of South Africans, and they are making their full effort to make India lose.
